CYRILLIC ON YOUR PC
Paul Gorodyansky's site gives very detailed information on this topic:
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/PaulGor/
But see below if you just want to add cyrillic to Windows 95ff.
CYRILLIC IN WINDOWS
These notes were written for W95, but W98 works in a very similar way.
Windows 95 provides support for a standard Russian typewriter keyboard.
To access it:
* load your Windows installation CDRom
* in Control Panel, select Add/Remove Programs
* select Windows Set-up and find Multilanguage Support
* click Details and tick Cyrillic Language Support, then OK
* click Apply
* exit to Control panel
* select Keyboard
* select Language
* click Add. The list should include Russian. Select it, click OK
* tick "Enable indicator on task bar" (especially useful if you share the computer
with someone who doesn't want to type in Russian!)
* click Apply
* restart the computer
You can toggle between keyboards using Alt and Shift.
To use this facility to type in cyrillic you need Russian fonts
that use the upper ascii numbers, code page 866 cyrillic.
This is the standard code page used in Russia.
Windows95 normally includes 3 such fonts. Try all the cyrillic
fonts supplied with your version.
Cyrillic fonts supplied with W95 do not normally include the
optional stress marks on the vowels. If you need these contact
Ruslan Limited for Diplomat fonts.
